The Stanley Cup Finals and the Traveling Blackhawks Fans

The Stanley Cup Finals begin on Wednesday, June 3rd, in Tampa Bay and StubHub is already seeing some strong demand from both markets. The Blackhawks look to win their third Stanley Cup in last six years as the Lightning try to win their second Cup ever after hoisting the first one in 2004. Let’s take a look at how demand is affecting the average ticket price for each game:

2015 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Average Ticket Price Sold on StubHub

Chicago Blackhawks at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 1: $537

Chicago Blackhawks at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 2: $663

Tampa Bay Lightning at Chicago Blackhawks Game 3: $1,133

Tampa Bay Lightning at Chicago Blackhawks Game 4: $1,267

If Necessary Games:

Chicago Blackhawks at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 5: $703

Tampa Bay Lightning at Chicago Blackhawks Game 6: $1,761

Chicago Blackhawks at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 7: $913

It’s not surprising that the games in Chicago are more expensive than the ones in Tampa. Chicago is a large market and the Blackhawks have a very strong following, so much so that their fans also travel very well. Despite the 1,000 mile distance between the two cities, 20% of StubHub’s sales for Game 1 are coming from the state of Illinois. There will certainly be some red and white in the stands in Tampa but will it be enough support to top the red hot Ben Bishop and the Bolts at home?
